Hood ID
« on: June 25, 2017 - 12:44:23 AM »
I was given an unknown NOS Mopar hood (or so the cardboard it was wrapped in said) a few months ago, just managed to get to its owner and pick it up today (long drive).  Not sure what its for but it was the only 'old' Mopar part he had and I said 'sure I'll take it!' since he's cleaning out his workshop.

The cardboard didn't include a part number; there's a label dead center on the underside with # 3752172.  No rear vent grilles, and the front is flat.  I can't find that number as a part number; its not in my '70-71 parts books or the 1980s supersession/NS1 lists.  The guy said he has had it since the mid '80s.

Can anyone match the number to anything?  If not I'll try to get some pictures of it posted.

a part number beginning with 375XXXX  was probably assigned in late 77 or 78......   So maybe an Aspen/Volare or a Cordoba/Charger/Magnum....

Bummer.  I knew it wouldn't fit the Challenger but was hoping for something interesting and earlier '70s at least.

Well if I can track down the specific app I'm sure I can find someone who needs it.

We'll see if these are trimmed enough else I'll repost in a couple of days.  I'll also try to get better ones if needed; these were taken in the few minutes we were in storage and putting it in the van.

I'm thinking of dumping photobucket after this; the ads are getting beyond ridiculous.  Its almost unusable.

Maybe someone else will recognize it.. I don't... It's not an Aspen, Volare or Fury....  The Hood behind it in the first photo is a 71 Challenger with damage on the R/F...  Which means this hood is shorter & wider than a Challenger hood... And the car it fits has a front header like a Cuda...

Thanks and yes the green/white hood is from my '71 Challenger.  And the damage is from a beer truck driver who didn't set his parking brake back in the '90s; it rolled back into the Challenger and crunched the grille, hood, and right fender tip.  I have to determine if the hood is salvageable (I have a replacement NOS fender because they were still available from the dealer back then).

The bumpers are from my Challenger also.

Next time I'm at storage I'll get measurements.  Maybe that will help.

That Satellite looks promising though; the character lines seem to match up.

There you go!  That's definitely it.  I was looking in the late 70's and nothing was even close.

I agree.... I have a couple NOS parts floating around with 37XXXXX part numbers & they are from the late 70's so I steered the thread toward late 70's but that hood looks spot on....

The cherry on top would be if someone has a parts book for 73-74 and can look it up.  Though its always possible the number on the sticker isn't the actual part number...

Thanks all, it sure looks like a match.

Thanks for checking.  Maybe the label is not an actual part number then (or else its a replacement).
