My car a 1970 Cuda I purchased was from a guy who knew nothing of Mopar-the fender tag had rusted away---The previous owner knew nothing of the old VIN fender tag or what is was and the car was on non operation for many years- the car was a higher end 6 cylinder car from the VIN number-When taking out the interior I found a paper note pad sheet with what appears to be the fender tag numbers - I would like a fender tag just to fill the void -this car will never be a high value car since its a 6 cylinder car-should I just have a tag produced with the numbers I found?

I have seen where this has been done, and the VON (not the VIN) was nowhere to be found, the guy has his year of birth as the VON.  :2cents:

Have a funny tag made up for it.  It can say something like...

I own one of those "C" code E-body's, my 1970 Dodge Challenger was and is powered by the venerable SL6. Go-Mango, black SE interior(no upper console), exterior trimmed in SE trim(no vinyl top). I also found, as it is ..an LA built car, it is a first day of production assembled car Monday 8-18-1969, #113. Since I've owned it 44 years (1973), I believe I'll leave it a 6. When I show it, it gets a lot of questions of interest. I've up-graded the engine to a Super-Six version. I love that damned Dodge just the way she is.   Thanks,   Al

I would love to do that and sell it to Australia for $250K- but- I have had some conversation with the people that make repop fender tags and they are a serious bunch
and want either an old tag or build sheet-maybe there are others that can make them and if so pass that info to me- Thanks

Fender Tag Special Build Types-

DD4-  optional baby seat belt
Z71-  Drag chute with pull cable

I've seen it done before.  They actually spell out a message but space the letters like the fender tag would have been originally.  Like this...

"Yes its a real v code.  I did this to pizz you off."

Personally, I plan on running an E-body tag on my Dart just to mess with people.

I had one made for a car and it came out really nice. When I compared it to a real tag from another car, it looked just as genuine in font and other features.

I think I paid about $150. If I ever sold the car, I'd disclose that info. Just to be honest but I don't know that it really means all that much unless it is a highly sought after car.

You will never know the VON number unless you have it from an old rusty tag. Technically, no one would be able to determine if the VON was correct anyway since they are no records out there.

99 percent of people at cars shows have no idea of what a fender tag is.IMO the car being a 6 cylinder build what you want and forget about the fender tag.

Datatags.com made my tag. I talked to them and told them I had an original car with no tag and he made a tag for me. Told him everything the car had and offered to send him pictures if he wanted. He agreed to do it but said he would not do it if it was a high dollar car for fear of me trying to make if something it wasn't .
