Here's a picture from my Service Manual

I'm sure it would be easy enough to drill a hole and put in a corresponding size split pin.

Thanks John, have that pic/service manual too.

Sure I can drill that hole, but the dowel pin "only" prevents slipping out the shaft, when I dismount the housings under the steering wheel. But to be correct/original I would drill the hole.
Any idea where and what diameter? Otherwise I have to wait for the next meet to get that from an other Challenger, if they are original.

TIA

Sorry, no I don't.
Sick right now, when I fell better I'll go in the garage and see if there's enough sticking up that I can measure.

That would be great, I appreciate it. Till then all the best for you, make a quick recovery. Still everything disassembled, once reassembled (to drive to a meet) I won't take it apart again. Still have to fix some ground in the crush can...

Hahaha, mine either fell in or fell out. Anyway it looks to be a 1/8 hole, a 1/8 pin punch fit right in.  It was hard to get an accurate distance from the cover end so I measured from the gearbox end and came up with 2 13/16 inches to the center. Sorry, no picture for that one.

Thanks JayBee, so it is not a strong pin. Your attachments are 404. Is it such a spring dowel pin?

OK, self answered, you can see it here:

The length is almost the same like the shoe pin it seems. Let's see...

Hmmm, I can see my attachments/pictures just fine. They're NOT posted with Photobucket either. I can't remember if my original (lost) pin was solid or the "spring" type., I'm thinking it was solid because I don't recall seeing the hole down the center like spring types.
