« on: July 06, 2017 - 12:14:24 PM »
I received my new polyglas E60's tires and they are beautiful!!

however they have that blue film all over them....what is the best thing to use and procure to remove the blue coating that is all over the tire and white lettering, with out damaging or removing the white lettering?

I'm sure there are a lot of methods, but I've always used comet cleanser and a scrub brush. Been using that method since the 80's when I had white wall tires. Flush it with water. Always worked for me. I tried using some wet/dry 800 grit sandpaper soaked in water and that'll clean off the rwl also. Worked ok but I prefer the comet cleanser routine. Also used Mequirers hot shine foam tire cleaner and that also cleaned the rwl and the sidewalks. Just have to careful about what you use that won't damage the finish on the rims. I admit to being a creature of habit and I'd been interested in what the other guys here have to say about it.

Westley's Bleche White has always worked great for me.  I even used it to clean up some original rubber parts that I was going to reuse.  It takes off YEARS of road grime and cleans whitewalls/white lettering really easily.  Black Magic recently bought the product and has their name on it now.  Some people have complained that the formula has changed.

It takes my breath away whenever I use it.  You might want to use a mask if using it indoors.  :2cents:

X2 on the Wesley's. I use some Clorox scouring powder and a good stiff brush, it comes right off.

Man,,, I must be old; I was told, as a child, not to worry, since the blue film is water soluble like soap.  Just wash with car wash and a white wall brush (toilet brush from the 1950's) and rinse until white. Ajax and similar powders are going to leave the tire and wheel, worse off. They did not invent ArmorAll until the 70's.

It is still a water soluble coating.. warm water and a stiff brush is all that is necessary to get the Blue off..  keeping them white, use SOS or Brillo pads.

thanks for all the input, actually used a dish rag and a little warm water with few drops of dish washing soap and it all wiped right off and the white is bright and clean
