Leaky floorpan

Not on the fish, but on my sons Volare ---

We have been fighting an annoying water leak for months.....we have narrowed it down to water somehow running down the outside of the area where the floorpan meets the side shell of the car passenger compartment....maybe a seam, maybe not.

problem is , its inaccessible without yanking the fender.

SO we thought, just seal up from the INSIDE....

SO he prepped and used that spray on leak sealer in a can.....can used numerous layers and no good...SOMEHOW it still seeps through in the same spot EVERY time.

Was thinking of trying to strip all that rubber spray mess and going for something like spray-on bedliner in a can?

By sealing the inside, you are just going to trap water between the panels on the outside and cause more rust problems.  The F-body platform has a reputation for rust issues as it is.  I'd access the outside of the area by any means necessary and fix it properly.

Yeah I had that thought too....and you are 100% right.

Problem is, looks like pulling the fender on this car is a major PITA...........hoping to seal it up from inside for now and at some point do it right.....

I guess I don't see a problem with sealing it on the inside just to get him through this summer season.  Then pull it apart over the winter and fix it right. However, I seem to remember you saying that this car is your son's daily transportation...even in the winter.  That throws a wrench into that idea.

So to followup ---

A few weeks ago we decided to look at this again and we narrowed the issue down to an area where the door front edge and fender rear edge meet, at the base of the wind shield as well as the bolt hols on the door hinges.

Bought actual sealer (pricey stuff!) and prepped the areas best we could.....applied the sealer in that area plus on top the hinges....also removed all the latest attempts inside the car and prepped that and sealed that area as well.

Knock wood, so far so good......keeping our fingers crossed.

Anything beyond what we did will require the fender to come off.
