    Can Anyone Help Me With This?

    Hello and good day to all. I'm just wondering how do you take off the part I circled in red. Would anyone know what type of tool(s) I would need? Just let me know and I posted it here because I would be more likely to get an answer and get it quick as I'm new to this and what not. Thank you.

    You need a steering wheel puller.You can buy it as a set from most auto parts stores or tool dealers.

    Don't sweat it . . . everyone in new at one point or another!   :thumbs:  I would put the nut on the end to protect those threads when using the puller.   :madvibe:

    Thank you for the advice. I still have some work on the car to do such as seat belts. But, for now I need to get my hazards and my turn signal working.

    Those steering wheels don't give it up easy.  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: They must use lock-tite or something at the factory, because once you have them off once, you can just use your hands after that. The steering wheel puller kits run about 20 some dollars, I believe. That's your only way out. Sitting there and pulling won't cut it. Don't ask me how I know.  :stomp: :stomp: :stomp:

    I have a puller that wouldnt work on my cuda. the supplied bolts werent long enough to reach all the way in there....keep that in mind...


    Not sure what kinda wheel i wanna go with if/when i change it  :beer:

    I just build my own from a flat steel 3/8 thick bar, drilled 3 holes, threaded rod steel, 1 nut welded on center hole, the other on the end of the rod, and two long bolts to mount in the steering tube can bottom.

    Takes 10 minutes

    I had to get 6" long bolts & make a new center bolt for the puller to get them off properly

    Well, just ordered one from Year one and bolts not long enough so looks like 6 inch bolts for me as well.

    I used redi-rod (threaded rod) and cut it to length.  This might be easier to find than 6 inch bolts.
