Those steering wheels don't give it up easy. They must use lock-tite or something at the factory, because once you have them off once, you can just use your hands after that. The steering wheel puller kits run about 20 some dollars, I believe. That's your only way out. Sitting there and pulling won't cut it. Don't ask me how I know. Mike
I used redi-rod (threaded rod) and cut it to length. This might be easier to find than 6 inch bolts.
