Resonator recommendation
« on: August 23, 2017 - 09:55:48 AM »
I have the Flowmaster 40 originals, on my 74 challenger with 360.    I LOVE the awsome sound...but..its too much for normal driving.   Their expensive so hate to remove.

Can anybody recommend a resonator to possibly add to each pipe to "soften" down the noise level?   Or do i simply have to take off the Flowmaster 40's and put on quieter mufflers??

Anyone want to buy a like new set of 2 1/2 in Flowmaster 40's ??

I'm going to assume that the 40s are located under the back seat.  That means you just have straight pipe along side of the gas tank.  You can easily fit a resonator there.  Look for a bullet style muffler...a straight through design that isn't much wider then the pipe diameter you're running.  I'm sure lots of manufactures make one.  You might look at Summit Racing.  They might have a store brand.  That might be quite a bit cheaper then a name brand.

Depending on the price of the bullets, you might just consider installing some 50 series mufflers in place of the 40s.  You'll have to price it out and see what the #s look like.

Eric at Classic Chambered Exhaust made me these to fit the 2.5" exhaust on my 70 Challenger. They mount right up to the 2.5" R/T aftermarket exhaust tips. Ask for resonator #25-RES-SPE.

Cost?  I might eventually need something like that for my current build.

""cost?"
The #25-RES-SPE was $67 each a couple of years ago when I purchased them.
