TRADE: '70 Chally P/W Door Regulators for '71+
« on: June 05, 2017 - 08:32:56 AM »
This request is not for me but for a very good friend of mine.

He wants to trade his pair of 1970 Challenger power window door regulators for a pair of 1971 and up ones.

His are not for sale, trade only.

PM me if you can accommodate this and I'll get the two of in touch with each other. He lives near the Cleveland, Ohio area.

Here's a Youtube video showing his situation. Posted this on e-bodies too, go to the 30:15 mark. Hopefully this can help others out so they don't end up with the same dilemma my friend just did.

Power window reg's will fit either year door. the problem is with the manual reg's. It was a mid year changeover. I have 2 71's with the 70 style with manual regs.  :2cents: Also have 3 cars with PW regulators. The gear on them is smaller but does the lift. You can cut the 70 style reg down to fit the newer doors. There was extra gear teeth on the 70's that was never used, just added weight.

Thank you. After a lot of discussion on e-bodies about this, he's going to go ahead and try his '70 P/W reg's in those '71 doors of his. He'll no doubt be more comfortable after reading your post.

Yup, have him bolt them in and then cycle them with a battery or charger direct to the motor. Just reverse the leads to change direction. Let us know what he finds, and I am sure he will have working PW reg's in his application.

Absolutely, just don't know when that'll be. He's 64 (maybe 65) still works full time and has other responsibilities

Okay, just to close things up here. I was at his place before & after Carlisle. He left everything in the donor door until the change over to make sure it'll be a direct swap over when he's ready, so that there's nothing installation related to remember or forget.

Like you said the gear on the P/W regulator looks smaller and it also looks like it might mount lower too. We put power to it and ran the window up and down. That large toothed gear didn't come anywhere near the top of the door. There's no possibility of interference as there was in the GYC video with the manual regulator.

Thanks again for all your help
