where do i start?
« on: December 18, 2017 - 02:45:01 AM »
Looking for some advise/recommendation on the plan of attack for my 70 Challenger. What order should I do the following:
- change to manual 4 speed transmission (not sure if i have know how to do myself)
- upgrade front suspension to Hotchkis TVS (i've already upgraded rearend)
- new carpet/soundeadning
- redo electrical
- change to disc brakes (probably Willwood)
- new 15" or larger wheels
- add Air Conditioning

Thank for the feedback!

Boy, that's kinds like asking "how high's up?" and it really depends on the current condition of your car and it's wallet! Since you asked, my choices would be 1- add disc brakes, 2- re-do the electrical. 3- go to a bigger wheel, 4- upgrade suspension, 5-A/C if you really think it necessary, 6- carpet and 7- transmission. Several of these things can be done relatively inexpensively, but most will cost quite a few quid, especially if you're not up for doing them yourself. At the end of the day, it's your car and your call. Good luck.

IMO..
electrical first---make it reliable
4speed second
New carpet third..It's only 200 bucks or so...
Brakes fourth
Larger wheels fifth
I wouldn't add A/C, I like cruising with the windows down...But if you like I would do that last.
You will end up spending more than you think.
About 15K...if other people do the work...20k plus.

I agree with dodj except I would do brakes second (goes with the reliability issue) this is of course assuming your engine is sound and where you want it or at least good enough. If it were me (and using your items) I would do;

Electrical
EFI
Brake
4 speed
carpet/interior
wheels/tires

A/C is just weight and another PIA to deal with and work around; if its too hot to drive one of my classic cars, I take one of the new ones, ride one my Harleys or stay home.. just saying..
