    like usual ya never know what you have until ya dig in. on my 73 cuda after cutting off most of the pass side quarter( from body line down) its rotted behind the lower quarter between door and wheel. gave up finding any rocker metal with a quarter inch of bondo gone after grinding at it .  lol   new rocker needed for sure. does the outer rocker panel extend behind the quarter panel to the wheel well ?? or is that a separate piece ??

    I'm pretty sure the rocker "skin" stops at the quarter. My 73 was rusted out in that spot on both sides. Cut out the rot and patch in new metal.

    The rocker extends back to the 1/4 and has a recessed section under the 1/4 skin that runs very close to the 1/4 skin. My Challenger had rot there too. Just patch it and make sure the 1/4 goes over the patch easily.   :cheers:

    its pretty bad in this area. did some web searching and found a hot rod article on replacement. I see how it is all structured now. going to get everything exposed to see exactly how far the rot goes. the inner rocker also is rotted some. "looks" like I can patch the inner up.  ill go ahead and buy a new outer rocker .  maybe just section in the back end of it . ill have to get a good look at the other side too. then order the rest of what I need all at once. already have the quarter skins , trunk drop downs and an outer wheel well for the pass side.  I tore into the pass side first because it is the worst area of the car.

    My experience with rocker panel patches has been pretty good. Bought the steel sheet from McMaster Carr and formed it up in my vice with the help of a hammer and dolly to give it the right curve. Gave it some good structural welds and ground it down....but in my case it was covered by the new quarter so it doesn’t have to be cosmetic cause it’s beyond the lead seam. I enjoy that work more than the finish work! Good luck!

    Bought a rocker from AMD. Had to weld in some patching on the inner rocker too. Came out nice. Just have to weld in the outer wheel well and trunk extension. Then I can weld the new quarter skin in place. Some really hack job body work done on this car back in the day.  Pass door was 1/4 " too high , so they mudded up the quarter body line and area under moulding in front of quarter glass to match door.  WTF  ???😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

    DON'T weld in the outer whlhse before you fit the 1/4! I bought AMD 1/4's, otr and inr whlhses and they fit together like $hit. I even called AMD and they put me over to their repair shop and the guy said to basically throw the whole shebang together and try to fit it as best possible. I wasn't happy and I'm a licenced bodyman. Clamp the whlhsw in and hang the 1/4 and try to get your fit. THEN, make sure everything is in and in it's place before you tack it and then check your fit and all gaps before finish welding it. Don't forget to put your stands or lift under the rear suspension while doing all this, as well. Good luck  :cheers:

    Yeah I'm at that stage. Had to do some reshaping on outer wheelhouse. Got it about right. Need to go some triple checking before I start welding. Thought it was my car out of shape. Good to know !

    Anyone happen to catch the 67 GTO build on *****in Rides?  The bought what looked like a decent 67 GTO as the base for a build, striped it down, sent the body out for blasting & when they got it back there were no rockers, they had been made of bondo.... The mud was over an inch thick....

    Yeah I saw that. "Looked" like a nice car. At least I knew my car had some issues when I bought it. Lol
