Need some help with holes
« on: April 05, 2018 - 10:49:32 AM »
During the restoration of my '70 Cuda we replaced both rear quarter panels.  Naturally, the new panels didn't come with the holes pre-drilled for the rear quarter glass belt moldings.  Can somebody please advise me how many holes I need to drill and the distance/spacing of the holes from each other and the door jam edge.  Pictures would be greatly appreciated if available.  Thanks in advance.

Nobody?  Anybody?  Doesn't somebody have their Cuda in body and paint that has the belt molding removed that could get me some quick measurements? :feedback:

I have the Moulding on my Challenger and I think it should be the same, but it was installed several, years ago.  But this piece of trim is short and I think there is only 2 clips, so just space one hole close to the front and the other about 3/4 way back.  Just my 💡

But if you go on there, there are photos of the holes. here is the link.

It is very easy to drill them yourself there are four hole in total, if I remember correctly and use a 1/4 inch drill bit, the next 32 smaller would be ideal, if you have one.  Just center the holes and evenly space them, remember once you put the trim on no o0ne will see them.

7/32nd"s would be the size and don't forget to dab a touchup brush with paint into the nice, shiny and bare metal holes you just drilled to prevent the rust which WILL develop otherwise. Just my  :2cents:

Are you talking about the window felt and chrome belting?  I can get pictures tomorrow but I essentially made/adapted my own holes since the reproduction quarters did not match up with the original cross bracing or clips.
