Dash clock

I bought a dash clock for my non rallye dash Cuda today at a swap meet for $75.00. From the length of the wire on it ( about 5 inches ) it must hook to a terminal on the amp meter guage. Is that correct? Also the time adjustment knob must stick through the bottom of the dash. Any pictures would be great. Thanks

This is the only picture I have. If I remember the hole in the bezel wasn't drilled exactly below the clock's shaft. Something about the angle of the bezel and the angle the clock mounts in the dash; the hole had to be drilled slightly offset. Basically I'm saying to eyeball this carefully and measure a bunch of times. Once drilled there's no going back.

Thanks JayBee. That helps. I’m guessing the clock gets a full 12 volts for power off of the amp guage.

The clock does get 12V, however I do not think it comes from the amp gauge. I looked at 2 different wiring diagrams; one for a 73 Cuda and 1 for a 70 challenger. In the 73, it only a clock on the rallye cluster which shows a "battery feed" which is a independent feed line in the harness. On the challenger it connects into 12V cluster that feeds a number of things. All that said, I suspect any 12V source will work, however given the issues that could occur with the amp gauge I would select some other source of constant 12V.

My amp guage is wired but also bypassed so it shows very little load. The clock wire has the type of connector that slides over a threaded terminal.

Here's a picture from my 1970 Service Manual of the standard dash clock wiring. Those, looks like you were right, power does come from the AMP gauge.

Thanks JayBee. I’ve been away for a few days so when I got home today I tried the clock off of the battery and it works. Then I looked under the dash and saw the amp meter has a red and black wire. From your drawing looks like the black wire is the one. Thanks again.
