Dash backlight dimmer switch, Best source for?
« on: February 22, 2018 - 06:31:08 AM »
Greetings! I wasn’t sure if I should post this here or, in the ‘Electrical’ forums but, here goes:

am in need of a replacement dash backlighting dimmer switch for my 1973 Challenger — where’d be the best / recommended source for this part?

Thanks in advance! (I appreciate the assist as I am buried with work and replacing this part is holding up getting the dash backlights working again)  cruise-in weather is gonna be here soooooon!

Jim S. at JS Restorations. He uses a stainless steel resistance coil wire when he rebuilds them, nobody else does. He is a member here (Slotts)  but hasn't posted on this site since September 2017. Click that Moparts link to see his work.

JayBee, THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU!

I’m gonna reach out to JayBee and this really helps as now I know I need to let the buddy helping know I really should bring the car back to my place since it’s gonna be awhile waiting ...

Update: I shot Jim an email this (Sat) and his response was near instantaneous — REALLY looking forward to getting my switch in the mail to him.

happy, Happy, HAPPY!

Thank you again, John!

Whoa . . .

Just HAVE to post a huge shout-out for Jim at JSRestorations ... UNfreakin-believable - I mailed my dimmer switch to Jim on Monday, arrived Weds and he determined no parts needed replacing as a part of the rebuild, he kept me up-to-date and actually has in the mail back to me TODAY!

The lifelong mechanic buddy helping me is speechless, he’s cracking up it’s taking longer to get a dozen valve cover hold down washers than it did for Jim to rebuild AND RETURN the now good again dimmer switch!!!

Thanks JayBee - this forum rocks!
