Mallory dual point
« on: July 11, 2005 - 02:17:55 PM »
Just swapped out the original electronic ignition in my 340 for  a new Mallory dual point.. Seems to work real good over the original.. Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with these. and if I made a good decision.

I put a dual on a '69 Cougar, worked great, but I got tired of having to mess with the points. Get the conversion kit to switch it to optic.

I ran a mallory dp for years and loved it. was totally hassle free and performed better than any other dist i tried too. Now on my cuda I pulled the electronic ignition and installed a dp and the car runs harder , idles better and starts in 1-2 revolutions where it took 4-5 with the electronic dist. I know points are dinosaur technology but sometimes older is better

usually a good electronic will outperform points , but points do work when they are set up right
