Placement of 4-speed hump

Finally found time to put the correct tunnel in, finished cutting holes and prepping the edges. Have to massage the flange on the new tunnel in places but keen to get in tacked in.

What level of finish do I go to ? Is Beekeeper's photos an accurate  example, stich welded on the top. What about the underside.  Am I going too far by running a weld continuously around the tunnel flange and the undersides floor pan edge ?

What is this "to far" thing?  If you want to fully weld go for it....  Personally I'd be sure to fully seam seal the bottom so moisture can't get in & start rusting....

You only need to weld the top and then seam seal it. There is nothing saying you can't weld the bottom but it isnt necessary. As to finish, they weren't that pretty from the factory, so its up to you. Once the carpet is down you will never see it anyway.

Thanks for the reply guys, appreciate your time. Will do as you say, weld top and seam seal bottom.

Beekeeper's photo have me confident that I have tunnel in correct position, Firewall to shifter opening measurement is the same. Have tweaked the tunnel flange in places and will attempt to tack it tomorrow.

seam sealer goes on the top over the welds, but you can do the bottom if you wish.

Might put sealer both sides, on underside to stop dirt and water, on top side to hide some poor welds.

Hit those welds with a grinder (I use a flap wheel) and get them flattened out, put sealer over them and then if you paint the floor body color you will never see the welds. Underneath, you might consider some spray undercoating, to be honest I do not think sealer will last as it is not designed for that task, however you can try it.
