Mopar used the 727 for the 340 performance motors & up.. 318's had the 904.. think mother mopar already answered that.

TorqueFlite-727 Hands down...fun or fast, I choose fast.  Proven at the strip, consisitent and quick.

The 727 is heavier but the money you spend on making a TF-904 as tough as a stock TF-727 could be spent else where.  :)
I think there's 0.10 difference in 1/4 mile times with the same setup, like I said the TF-904's upgrade money can be spent to gain more than that tenth back. I don't know about anyone else but I wouldn't have any other trans under me, I have peace of mind know I can dish it and it will take it. What is it going into anyway? Or are you just curious?  :dontknow: Straightline is what these cars were made for.....
