    440 HP exhaust manifolds numbers

    Hello E-body lovers. This is my first post so apologies in advance for being a newb.
    I am a young fella who fell in love with mopars after moving to Canada, unfortunately my dad can teach me only about russian cars so need schooling from you guys  :newbie:

    Owned a beautiful 70s challenged for 4 years now. Time to rebuild what guy before me did. Machined my 440 to 500 ci, aiming for 500 HP with a stroker kit. Question about headers - currently I have 2806900 and 2843992 manifolds. I have been hearing about some famous Chrysler HP manifolds, but after searching various forums for a week I am still confused about the numbers. Can somebody please confirm if the ones I have are the best stock manifolds i can get for 440? If not, please provide the number so i can hunt for them. I am trying to avoid headers due to ground clearance and cost. I dont like to slow down much for speed bumps and saving money for stiffen my suspension.

    Will I lose much power if I go with those HP manifolds and 3" pipes vs headers? Car is street, not dragging it.

    Again, apologies if this thread is redundant, please point in the right direction.

    Welcome from Texas!
    Those manifolds were originally for 68-69 440 engines in B bodies , they are the HP version.

    What work do you have to do on the car?

    Sweet, thanks for the confirmation! I've found the same info so far but my mechanic and his buddies keep mentioning that better ones exist. Is it worth hunting for later years for better flow? Do all of the HP versions perform the same? Saw the max-wedge ones that look like shorty headers but they are $1k repro. Currently it fits so i'd like to keep them. Unless somebody tells me that I will lose lots of horses.

    I just blew up the engine this winter so in the process of rebuilding it. Put the bottom together, getting slowly to the top. Also need to figure out what to do with the rear end, dont want to leave my wheels behind. This is my first car ever also :)
