Oil An Temp Gauges
« on: October 20, 2018 - 03:20:47 PM »
On my 70 Cuda with rally dash I cant get my gauges to work. Heres what igot. My fuel gauges works ive got flashing pwer at the top post on oil and temp gauges. That tells me the volt limiter is working. The bottom post 1 on each gage that come threw the harness are gronds right that go to the sending units on the motor. With the key on should I have power at the units. If I undo the wire at the sending unit and ground it it should peg the needle on the the gauge. That tells me the unit is bad right. How do I check if the gauges are working properly I cant see both gauges being bad .But I don't know if they worked before. Thanks Dirk

Did you figure things out?
(Been a couple months)
Sounds to me like you have two bad gauges.
If the fuel gauge is functioning properly, your regulator must be good. Ensure your jumper wire on the back of the gauges is installed. Verify your wiring connections and condition of the b/h connector connections. As long as the wiring is correct and you ground the temp or oil wire, the gauge should peg. If they don't, the bi-metallic strip heater in the gauge must be burnt open.
