Could have swapped but
« on: December 30, 2017 - 03:00:43 AM »
Ok  3 days back I am out in my limelight 70 cuda ,parked in the McDonald's car park drinking a coke . When a gentleman and his wife walked past me and he said nice car But I am not sure about the colour ,if I like it or not . I said that's ok I do.   He's wife said I love it . When they came back out of Mc Donald's  he said to me that he's wife would like to buy my car or swap it for he's car . I said you what. Its not for sale . Man said that I would like his car.  ,Which was parked out of sight a 2016 mustang  pain black with black rims  Not even a v8.  In the end he offered me his number if I changed my mind  . Any way here in Australia the 2016 stang sells for about 65k  P.S the new mustang is nice But it's not me AND it's not an E-Body
I don't know some people

You are wise to hold on to your car.   That Mustang in 10 years will be worth $10,000, but your 'Cuda will hold it's value and maybe climb a bit.  Plus it's much cooler to cruise around town in a e-body.   Many years ago someone wanted to do an even swap for my car and he was willing to trade a true 1968 HEMI Road Runner but I turned him down.  The Road Runner was worth more but I liked the looks of my 'Cuda better.   If it was a HEMI 'Cuda he wanted to trade then you never know, I might have traded.

Now I'm done talking so go enjoy the warm weather and go for a drive to the beach.  I wish I could but it's -4 F and 2 feet of snow on the ground.

" he was willing to trade a true 1968 HEMI Road Runner but I turned him down." - Man, I like my E body too and it's as you describe the situation, but she'd've gone when that Hemi RR passed my inspection and was judged worthy. It would have been a giant leap towards my fantasy of owning a 68 or 69 Hemi Charger. Sorry   :sadwavey:

I definitely wouldn't even consider trading any of my Mopars for a Ford....  :roflsmiley: Seriously though it would have to be something pretty special to trade off one of my Ebodies. I am very loyal to the brand so it would be difficult to say want non-mopar trade would get my attention but I cannot think of anything off hand at the moment. My Mopar's are much more than value, they are emotional thus its hard for me to think what I would be interested in. Ive had or have my "dream" cars so I guess I am biased.
Current Mopar
70 Challenger RT 440-6 EFI, 73 Cuda 416-6 EFI
05 Hemi Durango, 01 Ram 4x4, 14 Ram 2500 4X4, 10 PCP Challenger 6 spd RT, 01 Viper GTS ACR, 52 B3B w/330 Desoto Hemi, 70 Hemi RR (under const)
Past Mopars
9 x Challengers. AAR Cuda, 4 RR, 2 GTX, 4 Chargers, etc... (too many to list)

Thanks, I have been lucky and got into it early in life when these cars were plentiful and cheap. Of course I wish I would have had the foresight to stash a few and hang on to them... Funny thing is that growing up in ND in the 70's, I never saw a factory Hemi car, a few six pack cars, a couple of Superbirds, but nothing super rare or exotic that I can remember. Thinking back on it, I am sure they were around but back then no one cared what the car was born as/with, it was more important what they had/did at that moment. I pulled BB 4 speed cars out of junk yards for $100 back then for the parts. Bought running/driving BB cars for $1500 or less, scraped out cars that would be gold today. The best deal was that I paid $250 for my AAR (original drive train long gone), I sold it 3 years later for $1200 when I got orders to go overseas. One of the coolest cars was a 67 Satellite with a 383 and 4spd; loved it but ultimately destroyed it.

I am still passionate about Mopars but there are few I would work at to obtain. I wanted a Superbird clone, picked up a 70 RR but can't bring myself to convert it (don't want to spend the $$). Id love a TA, but I don't think I would trade off several cars to get one. Point here is that at the end of the day they are all only cars despite their birth certificate; this is why I have absolutely no problem with clones, restomods, etc. IMO a well done restomod is worth more than an original... That's why my RR will be a 426 Hemi 4 spd with EFI (or I will sell the 66 426 and get a 6.1 for it..)

Those Mustangs are junk and there are plenty more coming so used ones will get cheaper and cheaper. Maybe if it were a new Challenger on offer you would maybe at least think about it as there aren't many around and I don't think Chrysler have any plans on bringing them here.
