Leaving for home on Sunday was sad. For me it meant the fun was over, the push to get my car ready for the show, the long hours and sleepless nights, boy I’m going to miss all that.
However, I found new projects to begin so I guess it isn’t all that bad. I would like to mention that on the way home, I almost ran out of gas twice. Once I stopped at a rest stop and when I took off down the ramp, the car started to stutter, so I knew I was getting low, that and the gauge was just above E. The next exit was only 2 miles so I took it easy and made it there.
Then as I was pushing to get home I figured I would have enough gas to make it the rest of the way (Newburgh, NY area to north of Hartford, CT) and as I got closer to home I was feeling more confident. I got off my exit and was smiling because I was right. A few stop signs and traffic lights, passed by 3 gas stations and then the engine starts to sputter. I quickly did a u-turn and pulled into the last gas station I just passed (maybe 200 feet). I just put in 5 gallons because I wanted to be home so bad. Finally pulled in around 8:30pm and unpacked.
First off I don’t know where to begin. I guess I owe a big thanks to the people that actually run the c-c.com board because without them I would have never met such great people.
Carlisle was a huge success for me. I would like to thank Whitesatinmopar (Jim) for the special treat that he arranged for my wife who said lets go to Carlisle even though it was her birthday. You certainly went out of your way for someone you never even met before and I really appreciate that. Oh and your car is excellent also.
Chris also gets kudos’ for his part in the event. Your attention to detail on your car really inspires me to do just that much better on my projects now. Your willingness to help out everyone and anyone is extraordinary. Thanks for your assistance in aligning my hood and sharing your stories about your car and the troubles you have encountered. Good luck with your sanding.
Neal (Chryco) of course was called upon by me and many others. It was a pleasure to meet you and see you in action. Thanks for finally getting my hood right and explaining the backward laws of physics for getting it to sit right. Also thanks for recommending a new intake manifold (which I picked up at the swap meet area), I will be putting it on this week and regapping my plugs while I’m at it. I’m sure I’ll notice a huge improvement in power.
Dave gets thumbs up for food support and the tent. Also his jokes kept me laughing.
Oldschool brought in some excitement on Saturday with the attention his car was getting (not in the good way). I’m glad that we were able to work out a solution and have you stay at the tent. Your car is bad a$$.
I know I’m missing out on a few names but my brain is still vibrating from the ride home and I can’t think.
I will say that it is truly unbelievable how everyone from c-c.com pulls together for a good time and makes you feel like you are truly with family. I can’t wait for next year.
