1970-72 Barracuda front bumper brace
« on: December 08, 2019 - 01:04:30 AM »

Is there a part seller with this bumper brace new? (part # brace 3-68-12) Or what should it be made from? I'm trying this question again since I have some grill work to perform and the bumper is going to be removed. The link is a body manual photo. http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=99073.0;attach=169656;image

Thanks people, Ken

I don't think I have ever seen that brace on original cars; I seriously doubt it is remade in the after market.

thanks, I have replaced the 1974 bumper with a 72 slotted one. The brace on it was bent and somewhat repaired by a body shop, so tightening the bumper caused marks to appear through the then, replaced one. I used to attach a tow bar, it was so sturdy.  I saw a manual diagram on this forum for the 72's / bumperets that had a support for them. I though I'd try again, maybe angle iron forged by a welder to fit, is an idea.                                                                                   Another question I will post is, who sells the ashtray spring, a flat piece bent to work with little teflon stops? ,Ken

You could certainly develop reinforcing parts for the bumper, any decent fabricator should be able to.

As to the spring, I do not believe anyone sells just that part, I think you will need the entire assembly.

So, I have no ashtray to bump my knuckles on while moving to park with a Mr. Gasket cable dual pattern.
