70 Cuda Sun Tach positioning

Just wondered if anyone has fitted a Sun Super Tach or similar to their Cuda and if so what position you chose?

It's going to be tricky mounting it in the normal steering column position as it that rotates on the ribbed section and there is limited room after because of the ignition switch and indicator stalk.

Interested to hear your thoughts.

I also have an old Sun tach and have given it a few thoughts. A piece of rubber ie: a section of a bicycle tube could be put between the tach and the column to prevent rotation. Using a better quality clamp itself would allow a bit more torque to be applied, too. If you're not too anal, you could also drill a couple (or one) holes in the crash can ans screw the bracket to it. Just my 
PS- I don't think I'll do the old "screw 'er to the top of the dash" thing.

Mounting them to E bodies is a challenge to be sure, I once made a mount and put the tach in the right corner of the cluster/dash pad using the light bar plate. If you are careful about it you wont damage or modify the existing dash or light bar.

Thanks and after looking again I tend to agree that's probably the best and most sympathetic way of handling it.

Its the least obtrusive and painful. If you can score a 2nd light panel, you can rivet the tach base to it.
