Wheel Width
« on: July 24, 2020 - 11:50:19 AM »
I have 14 inch Rallye wheels. What is the best way to measure the width of the rim without removing the tire? I need to order beauty rings but I need to know if the rim is 6 or 7 inches wide.  Thanks

If you take the car to any tire dealer, they have a tool that can measure the width.  Or you can take a coat hanger or heavy wire so one end touches one side of the rim and bend it around the tire so the other end touches the other side of the rim and measure the distance between the ends.  That is essentially what the tool does.

Hey money pit!

The tire dealer, has a tool to measure the width.

If you want to measure the wheels alone, there are tread depth gauges. You can find these products at petrol stations.

It is available in different versions. There are laminated cards with colored reading marks and digital measuring gauges.

I hope this will help you!
