Throw-out bearing arm

I'm having a difficult time understanding how the fork arm attaches to the throw-out bearing, and an especially how the arm sits inside the bell housing. There is a spring steel tab on the inside of the fork arm and I cannot figure out where this attaches to, or how it pivots on this point. I have pictures, but for some reason the website is not allowing me to post the small sized .jpg.

This is an automatic to manual conversion of an 833 which bolts to my 383. I bought the clutch and assembly from Brewers. Are there any pictures or something anyone can reference to show me how this goes together?

The fork has that spring steel tab on the back which slides into a square slotted bracket inside the bell housing; this provides the pivot point (its pretty sloppy until everything is connected). The throw out bearing has 2 spring clips on each side that snap over the ends of the fork allow it to stay on the fork while the trans is being mounted. None of this is a rigid mount, it all kind of hangs there but once everything is assembled it is good.

Look at the FSM pictures, I think they are fairly descriptive.

Yep, the throwout bearing just pushes onto the fork; there's only one way it'll go on and, as Mike mentioned, the fork clips onto it's pivot. Don't forget the boot that goes over the fork and tucks into the bellhousing or your clutch won't last as long as it should, due to road dirt. The Z bar can go on later. You've got the pivot for it that mounts in the block, right? And the split-shell plastic bushings that the ball mounts fit into? Don't forget to use a good lube both inside the Z bar and those bushings, but don't lube anything inside the bellhousing, as you don't want any loose lube flying around your nice, new clutch.  :cheers:

Yes, I have found the pivot bracket that goes inside the bellhousing. This makes a lot of sense now. Thank you both for the help. I understand the assembly after reading your descriptions and looking at the diagram pictures. Thank you!

People will say that you cannot put the bracket inside the bell housing with the trans in, I know that to be false but you do have to have small hands.
