Not that many TX9 (Black) 71 Cudas built.
$20k Canadian, what's that in US dollars $16k? Numbers matching Engine and Transmission?
Triple Black 71 Cuda 340... Could be made to be quadruple black... TX9, Black interior, Black vinyl top, Black Billboard... Not a fan of Billboards but Black on Black would be the exception. Black rubber bumpers, Black painted mirrors. Yep, Black happens to be my favorite color on any car.
If it were a 4-speed it would be even better.
If not, numbers matching and even if it is, a G3 Hemi would be tempting. Backed with an 8-speed 8HP70 Auto... Oh, sorry, that's me dreaming...
If building your dream car and it's within your means what's overpaying $4-$5K? It’s not that often you have an opportunity to pick up a 71 Cuda and build it the way you want and if doing it over the course of a few years, you get to spread to cost out too.
Nut and bolt quality restoration plus the cost of admission a few grand won't make that much difference in the grand scheme of things. Maybe 4-5% of the total cost.
Much easier to spend 25k a year vs dropping $75-$100k on a complete car. If doing much of the work yourself, you can save a few bucks and if you enjoy doing it then even better...
Just need to go into it with eyes wide open and know you are paying for what you are getting and getting what you are paying for.
