Apillar Cowl Fitment
« on: June 09, 2021 - 11:32:22 PM »
So I've  had an apillar job ongoing on a 71 for a couple of years now.

I have the piece laying on a section below the roof to pillar joint, on the window frame and below the lower cowl flange.

The holes are off by 3/8" or more. I am wondering if I have the stack wrong.

Should the pillar fit above the lower cowl, and then underneath the upper cowl panel?

Passenger side is the same as I am doing, but I wonder if it has been replaced. I'm struggling to figure out how I will match these holes up...

Thanks

If you are using reproduction pieces than its very likely that the holes will be off, partly due to the replacement part but also due to the car body moving around over 40+ years. I would emulate the passenger side unless I had reason to believe it needs to be different.

You might try posting over at forebodiesonly or ebodies.org

Thanks I will do that.

C-C used to be fairly active and is my favorite. Guess that must have changed over the last few years...

Until this site gets its act together everyone posting here should be re-directed to e-bodies.org  IMHO!

https://forum.e-bodies.org/

70chall440, remember to include the hyphen between the "e" & "b" in the e-bodies.org address, common mistake.

JayBee - thanks for the correction. Just an FYI there are other E body sites out there as well such as FEBO. I am a member of pretty much every E body site and they all have their own personality. e-bodies.org has great resources and no doubt a lot of knowledge how the site tends to be more about restored cars. Personally I don't visit there often but it is a great site overall. Its unfortunate that this site took a dump and the owner obviously docent care because it still seems to draw a few new members.
