1970 Challenger Fuel Pump
« on: May 17, 2021 - 10:33:26 PM »
Hello Everyone. Just wondering if an original fuel pump for a 70 440 is worth rebuilding....not sure if they even rebuild them. The plate with numbers looks great...the rest is trashed.

IMO no, I'd replace it in a heartbeat with a new/better one like a Carter HP unit but then again I am not a purist and don't care about originality.
Current Mopar
70 Challenger RT 440-6 EFI, 73 Cuda 416-6 EFI
05 Hemi Durango, 01 Ram 4x4, 14 Ram 2500 4X4, 10 PCP Challenger 6 spd RT, 01 Viper GTS ACR, 52 B3B w/330 Desoto Hemi, 70 Hemi RR (under const)
Past Mopars
9 x Challengers. AAR Cuda, 4 RR, 2 GTX, 4 Chargers, etc... (too many to list)

Even so I would not rebuild it, I would find a correct replacement.

Its a consumable item like belts, plugs, etc. You might want to put it away in case the next guy wants it but I don't think the original pumps are rebuildable, could be but I don't think so.

What is the date of production?  Numbers on it?
