Heater core meltdown

Last summer I was tinkering with the 'Cuda in the garage and had it running when I noticed an odd hissing noise ,I looked around the engine bay but didnt see anything then noticed the windows fogging up.Opened the door to look inside and the heater is hemoraging coolant all over the new carpet    what happened, how do I fix it, and how do I keep it from happening again?

Ughhhh.... replace heater core.
I still think you have to get it apart to see what went pop.

Buy me a twelve and I'll get it out for you :beer: -  if you are lucky I won't finish the twelve before the repair  :wasted:

you need to drop the heater box out , it has 3 bolts around the heater motor in the engine compartment & a small J hook under the dash by the vent at the far right if it has not got A/C , then take the box apart & replace the heater core
