So Tell Me Something About This
« on: July 22, 2005 - 11:03:38 PM »
Okay so I go to put in my new turn signal switch and then a couple of new fuses. Now, without the motor turned over and the accessories turned over to on I can turn on either emergency flasher and turn signals and leave them on but, within a minute it blows the fuse or should say does a thing to fuse where it bends and splits in the middle. Now, the thing I notice when I pull out the fuse it's very hot and at one point today I noticed it started smoking a little so I'm thinking I got a short somewhere or I got an open circuit somewhere. What do you all think? Also, I notice when I start up the car the charge guage will jump around. Anyone know what's going on there?

If it's not too late...put in the old one back  in and see if it does it still.

or plug in the old switch under the column to se fi ti does it that way
you obviously have a shrot somewhere to be blowing fuses
you may have a problem with the regulator , fix the short first it can load the alternator

Okay well the old switch I can't do because it's worn out pretty bad. The one I got was from Year One and even before then it blew a fuse before I replaced it. In reference to the regulator are you talking about the voltage regulator on the firewall correct?

Thank you. Is there a certain one I should order or should I just get the Mopar one since my car doesn't have a Mopar one.

I don`t know if the Mopar ones really are better , I have used both Mopar & aftermarket ones

Thank you Chryco, I went ahead and ordered a Mopar OE one since my motor is all mainly stock anyways.
