     :wave: Hey everyone!  I've been a long time 1st gen Camaro fan (have a 68 + 69, sorry) and I have just run into an opportunity to pick up on a 70 Challenger coupe.  It is just an empty roller.  It is an original southern car (I think it was a 318/auto).  I looked at it last night and it needs a total restoration.  The sheetmetal that needs to be replaced includes floorpans, trunk pan and the filler panel between rear window/decklid, beyond that it appears to only have minor surface rust.  The frame has zero damage and only surface rust.  The body lines are straight (rear quarter/door, trunk/decklid, fenders/doors) with almost perfect gaps and it does not appear to have ever been wrecked.  There is no motor, trans, hood, interior or glass.  It needs to be dipped or blasted and go from there. 

    My question is what on earth is it worth.  I know its only worth whatever I am willing to pay as far as that goes, but really, when one of you are ready to start a new project (original, clone or even maybe a pro-touring build) what is a realistic price for one of these straight shells?  $2000 ... $5000 ... $7500 ??

    I know its hard without pictures but what have been the prices that any of you have paid for a starter shell for any of your projects?

    As for the value of the Challenger, that is going to differ between people....as for myself, the value should be from $0-1000.00.....you're saying that its missing the interior, is the dash there?? Is the VIN tag present with the car?? How about a fender tag?? Does the vin start with JH23.....or JS23.....?? Alot of the glass and such can be had rather easily....

    If the car were mine, I would go find another more complete car that is a total rust bucket or damaged beyond repair and use it as a guide to repair/replace things in this one....otherwise you have a major jigsaw puzzle to put back together that is going to cost you more $$ than it will be worth....that is unless your love for the car is beyond words! JMO

    I'd say that being an original 318 automatic car, a clean roller needing what you've said is worth not much more than 1000 to 1500 at MOST. Gotta tell you that while the aftermarket supports these e-bodies fairly well, don't expect to find what you are used to with camaros in that regard.

    Get us the VIN number and we'll know for sure what you are starting with...that can make a big diff in what the car is worth.

    BTW, guy across the street from me owns 7 camaros, 6 of them 67's. I've always had a soft spot for a 69 Z-28. Also like the RS-SS cars with the flip-up headlites.

    I'm in the Canton area.  I guess that I should also mention that I do have a bit of Mopar blood in me  :guitar: :burnout:  :guitar:, I've had a 97 Viper GTS for about 3 years now.  Does that count on this board?  I've attached a few pics.

    Welcome, nice cars.  We might make fun of "slomaros", but most people on this site appreciate any muscle cars.
    I agree with the other guys about the Challenger.  From others I have seen for sale, I woulnd't give more than $1000 at the very most,

    Thanks for the responses.  The guy had a minimum of $3500 for the Challenger and I just felt like it was too much to pay for the amount of work it needed, besides that, it was not a high demand model.  I'll probably pass on this one.

    Yes, the 69 Camaro (slowmaro LOL  :laughup:) will not be very slow at all when it is completed in about 2-3 weeks.  It features;

    Dart 638 (10.5:1 cr)
    Big Chief 18 degree aluminum heads
    F.A.S.T. fuel injection w/2000cfm throttle body, 72# injectors
    Viper T56 six speed
    Ford 9", 35 spline, detroit locker
    2.25" primary headers w/3.5" oval exhaust
    Baer brakes (13" 4 piston / 12" 2 piston)
    Hydraboost for brakes
    Vintage Air
    17x8, 17x11 wheels

    I'm guessing about 800-850 hp  :drool:  :drool:  :drool: on pump gas but I will know for sure after it's run on the chassis dyno next month.  If anyone local wants to see it, I'll have it at the local cruises (Canton, Cartersville, Dallas) as soon as it is done.  It is hopefully going to the Good Guys show in Charlotte, NC in October too!
