Help any members in the MSP area
« on: December 07, 2012 - 01:24:54 PM »
I am looking to buy some A833 4 speeds and was wondering if there are any members in the MSP area that can help me out.

Thanks!

Thanks Dave.

The advert says Stillwater which I believe is close. Here is the ad:
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/wsh/pts/3422375972.html

There was another one but it seems that one already sold quickly. I am looking for a spare A833 if I ever need one but I don't want to pay for a bucket of bolts like I did last time. I bought an A833 with a cracked retainer, main shaft bearing shot, OD gears when he said they were reg gears, and so on.

If you can help great, if not no worries.

:dunno: BRYAN, I saw the ad on this one a couple weeks ago.i wonder what the internals look like and if any water etc. may have gotten in it.the brg retainer and input shaft splines and if you notice in pic it looks like the shaft has large pits in it.  :dunno:
looks like this has probably sat outside for many years but who knows?i guess it comes down to the internals,if their in good shape or if it's going to need a total overhaul.
i myself have never rebuilt a A833 4SPD and not to familiar what to look for as for as wear and tear otherthan wear and tear on the syncro's and looking for worn/broken gears/shafts.........
stillwater is about 45 mins.-1 hour away from me.i could call the dude and check it out if you want.

let me know.
  Dave.............

Dave

I might put the brakes on this one because he states he has an 5 1/4 retainer and that would indicate it came out of a truck. Let me get the story and I'll let you know.

Thanks,
Bryan

Dave

Still haven't got a call back from the guy but I'm pretty sure 5 1/4 retainer is from a truck and I definitely don't need that because more likely it will have OD gears in it. The other thing is that it says Cuda on top and has a mount for a B body - kinda funny.

I will keep an eye on the one you have posted on ebay but the reserve has not been met yet and we'll see how high she goes.

Thanks,
Bryan
