I'm unfortunately a ex-cuda owner.
I bought my '70 cuda in McKenzie, TN back in '84; I was looking for a car, and checking out the used car lots; hit this one little place and saw a tarp covered shape behind the office in the weeds, just saw some cragars under the edge, went to check and....
it was a 1970, original plum crazy but primered, rusted and painted white with a 318, slap-stick. I offered the guy $650 for it and drove it home.
First things first, I took the engine out, it had already been rebuilt at least once but it looked to be in pretty good shape so bored it out and rebuilt it as a 340; removed the carter thermoquad and put a dual-line .750 holly with a hi-rise manifold; 206 cam, 360 head.
First time on the road to test the engine I twisted the rear end, I was broke at the time so hit a junk yard hoping for a lucky find, got a 9.25" out of a smashed...monaco? I think it was..
I never did paint it, or even patch the rust; sleeper city.
It ended up performing better than it had any right to perform.
In 1987 I joined the Navy, and parked it at my in-laws house while I went to boot camp. When I graduated, I was informed by by proud mother in law that she had managed to sell my old "beater" for as much as I had paid for it, $650, even though the engine would barely run (lope, lope, lope).
To my credit, I didn't kill her, or even say a word.
