B Body Rear in E Body
« on: June 17, 2005 - 02:11:44 PM »
For those who are skeptical I just finished installing a B Body Rear in my challenger...also put in the 3/4 relo kit and it all fit perfect...didnt have to cut off the spring perches at all.....3/4 relo moved the springs in perfect for the b body rear to set right in...

the benifits of the b body rear is that is shorter and i believe this is the best recipe for getting bigger tires into an ebody car....
send the 3 inch relo kit back...unless you are going to mini tub the car it is pointless due to the frame taper of an e body car....

I have the whole setup ready to go into my car. What size tires and wheels are you planning on running on your car?

Hi 8Pack,
Sounds good!! You let us know about those 325-50's when the time comes. Pics would be great too!
I've got a b-body butt(housing and axles) that I want swap in too but right now I've got too much
sheet metal work to worry about first. 295-50-15's should be a easy fit with the 1 inch relocation on
each side based on what CP says he's done on his challenger and what you've done. I think 360CUDA
has mentioned the same formula too. So I can work on the housing knowing it will work when I get
sick and tired of the sheet metal and need a break from it!! :nopity:   Thanks for sharing the info!!    Jeff

8 Pack, You have the right idea with the B-Body read end, they work great.. I put one in my 74 Cuda four years ago and it makes tire selections real easy. I am running 275/60-15 tires with 1" between the tires and the fender lip, and 2" between the tires and springs. I used the Mopar 3/4" offset front spring mounts for SS springs along with SS springs and I made a pair of 3/4" offset stock length shackles for the rear.

I don't know much about what he did but my ex put a "b" body rear in our se chally I don't think he changed the leaf springs I think he just dropped the rear end into the car and it fit!!! that allowed him to run n50 tires in the rear!! and sorry he is no longer around to ask any details!! and that is all I know!! And to make matters worse I sold the car so I can't even check anything out! sorry! I know this is probably real useless but I thought I would share it!!!

Hi 74cuda,
I'm curious, how close does your rear spring shakles come to the rear valance? I've been
told that on a cuda it gets very close depending on the spring selection with the relocation
kit installed. Do you see any chance of them hitting?  Thanks!!  Jeff

When you use the kit it is not a problem.  Using some other hangers that are too long or the wrong length spring is what causes that problem.  Like trying to use B-body springs on this combo :banghead:

Used the doc diff 1" offset hangers on my car, they fit beautifully.  B body dana 295 50s on 8" rally.  Doc diff does ask if hangers will be on a Cuda or Challenger.  For Cudas, he grinds the area on the hanger that has potential to bang valence down a little.  Don't foresee any problems.
