Newbie first tec question

Hey guys,

If you read my intro, I have a 70 challenger I've been restoring for over 15 years.  I had a guy come out and remove the original non-tinted windshield and we found rust under the chrome strip where the window pillar comes into.  I don't want to remove the fender to repair.  Does anyone think I can get away with a rust primer and mudd it in smooth?  It will all be hidden behind the chrome strip.  Thanks for the advice.  I'm glad I stumbled onto this website.

What I have learned is you will have hidden danger. Nothing replaces metal like metal. I thought I had a very small hole in my trunk and was just going to patch. Pulled my tank today and with a light on under the trunk pan saw all the little pinholes of light showing through.I will do it right the first time with new metal.

Hate to give you bad news but anti-rust primer and mud is just a temporary fix. Even if you use the best there is it'll come back. That's why it's nicknamed cancer. If you don't get it all out it'll come back.

   Fix it correctly now before it gets alot worse..

Yup,do it right or will continue to rust from underneath and you will end up with a hole double in size in a couple years.

It would have been like that for some time, you may as well do it once and do it properly. Give it another 20+ years of solid steel.  :thumbs:
