How much is....
« on: September 26, 2005 - 10:10:03 AM »
a 1970 Challenger R/T 440-6 4-speed worth?  It is originally a G-coded car, but other than that, it is a highly optioned 440-6 car that looks completely perfect.  Some options include a rally dash and hood, power steering, brakes and windows, pistol grip 4-speed, 15x7 Rally's, hoodpins and lanyards, original Mopar battery and much more.  This car is as beautiful underneath as it is inside and out.  It has absolutely no rust, and the paint looks brand new.  When you look at it, it looks like a real 440-6 straight from the factory, but it is a G car.  I am just curious what I should offer him for it.  I will try to post pics soon, but for now, I don't have any.  But, try to picture one of the prettiest Chally's you've ever seen and put a price on it, knowing it was originally a 318 car.  Thanks!

It's really hard to say without pics, but a 70 440/6, 4speed has got to be worth some good money even if it is a clone.  I'd guesstimate around $30K in excellent condition...maybe a little more.

It's is hard to price it without see it in person. Was the body rusted and just patched or was new sheet metal installed. Were the brake and fuel systems replaced or just spruced up ?? Was the drive train rebuilt or just re painted ?? SO ON AND SO ON !!!!!
I would say low $ 20,000.00 and high $ 40,000.00

In my mind you can't even do a good amateur restoration for under $20K (body, paint, interior, stock engine rebuild).  A desirable car like the Challenger should go for $20k and up if it is restored (good amateur restoration or better)  On the upper side, a numbers matching 440-6 with documentation and a professional resto would be more than $40K IMHO.
