Just looked at a '71 Barracuda
« on: August 17, 2006 - 11:01:34 AM »
I went to see a guy that lives near me who sells Mopars and parts.  He had a '71 Barracuda for sale.  It was a 318 A/C car, auto on column.  It now has a rebuilt 440 and 727 tranny.  Runs real good, but the original gold paint is pretty rough.  Would anyone want to give me $22,900 so I can buy it?

The interior was nice, not show quality, but clean.  1 small crack in the dash.  I din't see any rust or bondo, but I didn't climb under the car either.  The guy had it for sale at Nats, maybe somebody saw it there.  If anybody is interested, I can go check it out more closely and take more pics.

That car is priced pretty well considering the lack of bodywork that needs to be done to the car.

It seems like a good deal to me if there aren't any hidden surprises. Since it is no longer numbers matching, you can paint it whatever you want. Is the roof in good shape?

Yes, if you could give it another look for me and take more pics that would be great! Also try and drive the car, and let me know how it runs. It's not a bad price.

Hey guys,
there was a small write up in the paper on a 71 cuda here yesterday. It stated the car was a 440 six pack original car, with less than 10,000 km and 90 % original paint, (although I'm not sure what 90% original paint means though) It stated that only 108 of these were built. Also, $300,000 and that reserve was not met! Does that mean it was on epay?
That just blows me away.
On a $22,900 investment, a return of 1.210% ! :money:
Good luck Inot2old, I hope you can get that car.

If it were only 6 months from now... *sigh* looks like a perfect 1st 'Cuda for me.

I hope I don't have the money and then have to wait around for months looking for a good solid starter car.

I dont have digital pics, but that car is identical to my very first car. A '71 old 318 Barracuda with black top and interior. The only difference I can see is mine had 14" ralley wheels, not Magnums. If I had it, I'd plunk $20K on the hood and see if he tosses the keys to me.
