Intake Fitment

Well I was busy today Blending the 2 inch Dominator to 4150 adapter into the standard flange intake (15HP gain) Indy claims as well as many others I have talked to as well as port matching...and there was one thing I was worried about...my last dual quad intake had to machined down on the flanges to make the bolt holes line up on the heads because the heads had been milled..I dont know how much they were milled? But is there some formula to use to tell the machine shop how much to mill down the intake? I dont remember how much was taken of the dual quad intake? should be the same for my new intake...??

When I look at the hole lineup from the intake to the heads the hole on the intake is about a quarter inch higher than the bolt hole on the heads...

it will be the same measuremnet for both intakes , this is why it is far better to mill the intake surface of the head so any intake will still fit

 :iagree:

I have them cut on a 1:1 ratio...The real spec is like .012 on the intake to .010 on the head or something like that. From what you describe, you will need a decent bit off each side. I'm going to guess .030 or so. A simple way to have it fit is to measure the one that came off (assuming the holes lined up fine) and have the shop make the new one the same width.
