I am noticing on almost all of my rear end brackets that hold bumpers, in the bolts that hold the rear of my leaf springs, even the back plate on the brakes where it faces the center 3rd member there is a small diameter woven wire.  It would appear that these would be broken if any of these brackets or whatever are unassembled.
Were these from the factory originally or has someone before me just done this.     I would find this kinda neat if there were from factory.   It would let me know that noone had ever taken these parts off before.
Thereby making me feel secure the car has never been in a serious enough wreck to warrant replacement of any of these parts..

As you can see in this pic the lil wire that is connected to the heads of the bolts....... i have these in several locations, brackets and other locations in the rear.    I cannot understand why someone would do this.

Looks like a previous owner was a real fan of aviation mechicals and liked safety wiring
everything, like in a airplane!! Maybe USAF guy or you got the military "one off" prototype
E-Body!!   Jeff

Oh, by the way, I would photo every single location where this was done if you decide to
do any work in these areas..."Just in case" ...

You know, now that I think about it, I think Jeff is right. This sounds like something some aviator would do. A pain in the butt for sure, but you would never lose anything. Oh gomango, you have quite a car there.  :grinyes:
