mini starter - weight benefits and more?
« on: August 14, 2005 - 09:24:23 AM »
I was thinking about buying one of the newer mini starters for my 340 project. Besides weight, what are the other benefits or disadvantages? I was running the large, full-size motor before. Do they spin the engine faster? Require less amperage? I am running Hooker Super Comp headers and didn't have any appreciable clearance issues with the large starter - any clearance concerns with the mini version?

I have a ministarter on my motor, lighter, smaller, require less power and have more torque than the stocker.   The only way i upgraded was because i got one for free  :burnout:

I have to agree with what Goody told you. If anything, the mini will make getting headers on and off easier. It doesn't have that old Mopar sound, but I like mine.

I agree also, No mopar sound but it definetly is a better starter.

I got mine off of a 95 dakota for 30 dollars and it is one of the best mods to date.  it has to be close to 20 pounds lighter!!
