There is a significant height difference between the 340 and 383 baseplates as measured from the top of the crossbar to the mounting surface of the bottom of the baseplate.  It is about 5/8 of an inch if my memory is correct.  I have both types of baseplates and have measured the differences side-by-side.  I am not sure if the 440 and 383 baseplates were identical, there might be a small difference due to the differences in deck height... or the intakes may have compensated for the difference.  My guess is that the 383 to 440 swap would work even if there was a small difference, but the 340 to 383/440 swap would be a problem.

Good Luck!
