hey NZ i couldn't help but notice what you wrote about how our cars (E-Bodys) were made just to go straight.  This is incorrect and as a huge trans am fan and road race junkie alltogether I had to respond.  E-bodies were actually created as homologation specials to compete against camaros, mustangs, AMX and Javelins in the under 5 litre class of the SCCA Trans Am road race series. They were intended to turn corners not only go straight.  Whether or not they were good at it is still a question of debate.  I am currently building just such a car for unlimited class SCCA racing events as well as the Silver State Classic and I just wanted to share.

Sorry mate I should have broken it down more.
As a "whole" the muscle era cars were built big with big power and intended to blow the doors off brand-x in acceleration.

Lets face it, these cars handle badly, you can turn left about 20* and you still go straight with big block cars having VERY bad understeer.
T/A cars were light and could handle better and were built for the corners, although MoPar did not do well in the series.

I was just saying how straightline, autos are king. Even the hardcore drivers admit it.
Yeah, sure, they might get the run known as the "miracle" run every once in a blue moon but it's consistancy that fills the trophy cabinet.
Like in the day the TorqueFlite-727 is still the choice for MoPar fans for turning in fast consistent 1/4 mile times.

  I remember doing this when I had a 70 Challenger R/T with a 383.
I had kyb gas shocks and some fat low profile tires all the way around, so I figured it would handle fine.....I was wrong. I tried taking a 90 degree turn just a little fast and the front end decided it wanted to keep going straight, luckily I didn't hit anything. After that I kept to the straight line stuff LOL

Get some upgraded front and rear Anti Sway bars and you might be surprised at the difference in cornering / handling.

Yeah probably will make a difference but these cars will still handle like straightline beasts.

What would I be looking at for a good set of them? $300?
