Wonder how much gas they used to make that film?  They must've just parked the tanker at the film site!

I'd say so made in 71 so it wasn't as bad as if they made it in 74 (You know why)  :'(

i didnt realize that H.B. made a second gone in 60 seconds film, nor did i realize that he died making it. My version of the first one has a memorial scene at the end with the car driving around doing donuts.

I've seen it before, so I desided to rent it again from Netflix. I think the writer/director was a big Ford fan, several Mopars were destoyed in this film, including two 73 Challengers, and I think a 73 Charger. They did have a orange 72 Cuda with a stupid big hood scoop sitting in a warehouse. They make a big deal about stealing a 73 Mustang, saying its the last of the Mustangs. Since the movie was made in 74 when Ford came out with the Mustang II that looked like a Pinto. :ack:
Even though the acting is really bad in the film, the stunts make up for it. Still better than the Nick Cage version.

Whats this about an orange 72 cuda with a big hood looking stupid?

I saw both versions, they both had some dry dialogue, boring interludes building up to the real action stuff, but I think that the chase's made up for it. I mean come on , whether it was fake or not , It made me sit up and pay attention !
And just like the origional Vanishing point movie, when they made the re-make I swore up and down I'd never go and see it , but guess what ! ! ! Any movie made ( including natural born killers ) with a Challenger, Cuda, Charger, Duster ect.... in it is worth watching !
Anyone remember " Dirty Mary and crazy Larry " ? ? ?
Even the limited scenes in Blade showing the Charger made me sit up and pay attention !
Just my opinion !

Definately agree with you VPOINT.  Love to see any Mopar in a movie.  But not just Mopar, actually.  Any really well made car movie is great.  I got the DVD of Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry.  It's pretty good.  Now also on DVD is The Gumball Rally and Corvette Summer.  Gumball Rally is a great car movie, great audio of the different cars but the only Mopar is a Dodge Monaco? police car.  This is the movie that started my love for the 427 Shelby Cobra.  There also a genuine Ferrari Daytona Spyder, not one of those Miami Vice Ferrai-vette kit cars.

A nice movie with a Charger is Cannonball.  Not to be confused with Cannonball Run with Burt Reynolds.  This one had David Carridine driving an early 70's Trans Am and his rival is driving a '68 Charger.  Nice movie.

Yeah , I absolutely agree! The sound of detroit muscle just makes ya say " D-MN!"
How about Bullet with Steve Mcqueen ? Bothe the muskrat and the charger sounded awesome !

Yeah, I can still hear the sound of the "muskrat" (took me a second to figure that out!) shifting through the gears.

If you get Gumball Rallly, at least on the video tape, not sure about the DVD, from the beginning is nice audio.  At the Warner Brothers intro you hear the unmistakeable sound of a 427 Cobra starting up then taking off through the gears.  I love my Challenger.  I've yet to get it registered and drive it on the street but the tempting thought of letting it appreciate some more and if one day, may be years from now, if the value gets into the $20K area, maybe a trade for a Shelby Cobra kit car might not be out of the question.  We'll see.......
