A clone to die for at Garlits Show....
« on: November 06, 2005 - 02:50:32 PM »
Since a real one is a million dollar baby. This is from the Garlits show this weekend in Ocala, Florida. Never was that crazy about billboards, but this car wears em well...... The guy who owned it had 2 other 340 71 convertibles there, all different colors, all three shaker cars with white billboards.

His other 2 ragtops are the last 2 pictures in my other post.

This picture didn't come out too well because of where the sun was, but this car was a green/green stripe delete matching # Challenger R/T 426 Hemi. Automatic with buckets, shaker, dog dishies, console and rear window defroster.  "R" coded VIN with almost everything correct that you could see.

A concours judge would call it "overrestored" as it had much better paint than factory, and you could barely make out the VIN stamping on the cowl for all the clearcoat. Still very impressive.

Not the best looker, but probably the most valuable E- Body there, worth more than a decent house.

Yeah, the concours judges want the car to look just like it did when it came from the factory, so if it has a zillion coats of clear that make the finish look a foot deep, they count off, and it actually makes the car worth less, as it is less original. This is only for the OE concours people, but if you have a matching # Hemi car (I wish mine was!) it is stupid to do anything but a concours restoration.
