thats crazy,just get any 340 and make it a 6 pak,it wouldnt be numbers so who cares?

Besides originality, the T/A & AAR blocks had thicker webbing to help relieve heat build-up and keep the block more true at higher RPM's.  Who knows, maybe the bidding war is a result of the owner of the car this engine belongs to.  Numbers-matching engines in these Trans Am Series cars really help with their value.  I've seen too many true AAR's and T/As where they've slacked and put 318's under the hoods because the 340's were too hard to secure.

yeah its pretty crazy! I had a 396 out of a 69 camaro and it went for a little under 3,000.00. Its nuts maber there restamping the vin on it?

The prices are carzy!  I've got a T/A that I would love to install a correct T/A block but I'm not crazy enough to pay almost 6k for an engine that still needs rebuilding.
