Hi All...
« on: November 16, 2005 - 01:23:08 PM »
New member here.  I owned a '70 R/T Challenger with a 440 Magnum and fully loaded too in my early 20's.  Unfortunately that car was totaled in an accident that set me way back for awhile.  Now, at 45, I think it's time to build a new one (a la Chip Foose style).  Currently I own a Yellow 2001 Corvette, but have missed owning a Mopar for all these years.  Also had a '73 Charger 440 for a short time as well.  Nice to be here.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.  4cruzin: Yes...cooking has been my hobby for about 20 years.  They say I should do it professionally but no thanks.  Family and friends only!

I do have a pic of my car somewhere.  It was a '70 R/T Challenger with a 440 Magnum, air, front discs, etc.  Brown with the white R/T side stripe and white vinyl top.  I was restoring it and had just gotten the mechanicals finished.  Was at my college (at the time) and was turning into a parking lot when I saw a Mustang coming up on my bumper pretty fast.  I started my turn while still looking in my rear view and a VW squareback slammed head-on into me (she was was speeding...but I failed to yield so technically, my fault) .  The girl hit so hard that both of my doors were pushed up into the rear quarter panels.  This was also before mandatory seatbelt laws, so everyone was injured.  Lawsuits and rehab ensued.  It took a long time to get over it.

Fast-forward 25 years and I'd like to get into another E-Body.  Not necessarily a true R/T or 'Cuda, but something I can build for myself that would be fun to drive.  Overhaulin' did a show where Chip Foose re-did a Challenger that I thought was amazing, so along those lines!

And by the way...I bought the car for $1200.  My Dad thought I got ripped off!!!

Welcome to the board, Iron.  It sounds like you had some cool cars back in your earlier years.  Best of luck in your search for another E-body.

Wow...what a great site.  Brings back great memories of good times!  So many nice E-bodies in here.  Funny how I look at a pic of a rallye dash or the R/T hood and it's like it was yesterday.  I'll probably be getting another sooner than I planned!

Thanks again for making me feel at home.  You all have vehicles to be proud of!
