Not there anymore. I drove by last year to see if I could see the cars, or talk to the owner, and the cars were gone. The only thing there was in the garage, a 56-57 DeSoto.

I've had my eye on a 68 GTX for a couple of months now, been sitting in the same spot since the mid 80's! Out in a guys yard, sort of a barn yard and the car has sunk completely to the front frame rails, the front hubs are in the ground, the K frame is even covered, the only thing that saved it at all is there is wheels and tires on the rear, it's sunk to the axle. The rest of the car is pretty good, all there and actually pretty good to restore if the underside isn't too far gone.. Too bad some people are so lame, he first said it wasn't for sale then I offered him some real money and he livened right up! I could get it for a couple thousand and it's a real 440 GTX. Minus engine. Hood, glass, and everything else looks to be in order. Floors and probably at very least front frame rails would have to be replaced, maybe even the trunk. I'll try and get some pictures next time I'm down that way, should be in a couple of weeks.

All my cuda convertible needs right now is some vert that was wrapped around a tree or sitting rotted to hell in a yard...seriously. I would love to stumble across a car that was just ruined and sitting in a yard. Something noble about taking(and selling, cheap bastards) those cars and using them to bring a piece of mopar history back to life. so if anyone knows of any!

You wouldn't be the first to make such a remark! Hell, I'm still needing some convertible door glass for my 70 Cuda and some other pieces not so cheap pieces!

This is a true story and would be ideal for a cars-in-barns article. About 2 summers ago me and my brother went on a sunday cruise back home on Prince Edward Island (Eastern Canada) and were looking at little cottages down some back road. One cottage had a little barn in the back full of junk. At last minute my brother spotted the tail lights of what he thought to be a Charger. Us growing up brainwashed mopar, we circled around and pulled in. We were poking around when the owner came out. The car ended up being an all original 1969 Hemi Charger R/T. This car was covered in junk and never been moved since 1986.  The owner told us about the car, he ordered new with pretty much every option, all power windows, A/C etc, even more interesting was the fact that he ordered the car with the Charger 500 style wheels. I must say when he opened the hood and I seeen the Hemi sitting there covered in dirt, it was like getting hit with a blast of cold water in the shower, couldn't beleive what I was seeing. Needless to say he said he was saving the car for his son, but his son didn't want it, wanted an Austin Mini instead!! So I offered him a trade for my brand new Subaru WRX, and he told me this car was being saved for Jay Leno's collection someday..lol.  I followed up on the car just recently (Now that i'm done University and finally have money saved for a muscle car), and he sold it for 50K US, the car went to the United states somewhere. Thats only one of a few jems I found growing up that I was not in any position to buy, I only wish I can find something like that now.

If only I had my camera that day!!

As depressing as it is we have alot of that stuff aroud town here. Guys saving it but will NEVER have the $$$ to restore. Or some other reason that will never come to pass, wife wants to keep it, 3 year old son will get it , ect, ect. These guys make me nuts cause they complain how broke they are or how sick they are of tire kickers or guys who have to ask the wife or check with the bank. Then when someone comes along with cash-no muss no fuss- they dont want to let it go.AAAAAARRRRGGGGGGGG!!! :banghead:i
70 Chally R/T Convertible- Yes she's really got a HEMI, no she's not a Charger!

Its their car, if they want to sell it, they'll sell it. If not, its still their car! Would you sell it if you owned it and someone came along pestering you about it about 3 times a week?? The more you pester people about the cars, the more they think its worth. If you have the money at you disposal to fix a car, you also have the ability to find another one somewhere else, the manufacturers most likely made more than one.

It doesn't mean it is right that the car sits there and rots.  And with mopar, you never know, the car you could be looking at could be one of one.

Ryan,
I agree with you to a point....if I own that one car that I have bought and saved for my own use at a later date, thats my gig. Its true, I could own the only 6 cylinder 3 speed Duster that came from the factory with Hemi Suspension, a sunroof and painted Panther Pink....But its mine to do with as I desire and when I desire!

If people want to do a favor for someone about these cars then, when you find one that is sitting in a field or barn and its frame is on the ground, show some interest in the condition of the car, and ask if you can jack the car up and get it up off the ground. If you actually show that you are concerned with the cars condition, they make actually sell it to you.....One never knows!
