392 Hemi rear oil seal
« on: October 23, 2005 - 12:02:15 PM »
Hi,

I'm rebuilding a 58 392 Hemi. The Fel Pro gasket set supplies the rope seal and a rubber seal that goes foward of the rope seal. However, the rubber seal does not sit flush with the ends of the block or the main cap. That doesn't seem right. Any ideas?   Thanks

the rope seal is the rear main seal , the rubber seal does not go in there , the inner groove is the oil slinger groove

Thanks,

Do you know where that rubber seal goes? Its the diameter of the crank main journal and has two little tabs on one half.

Ya know the gasket kit also does 354 and smaller. Its probably one of those that uses the rubber main seal.
