do I need to brace the firewall
« on: November 05, 2005 - 11:06:25 AM »
I'm converting my 71 Challenger to a 4-speed.  Do I really need to brace the firewall? It's just a street car.  440 with the scallopped pressure plate.
I also have the A/F body Hemi 4-speed and aluminum bell housing.  Brewers said they could convert the trans to the e-body. Does this sound OK? I have the clutch/brake pedals out of a 70 Barracuda.  I expect they should bolt right in.  I suppose I'll have to install the engine and trans to see where the pivot point for the frame has to be welded (which I hope I can also get from brewers).

I posted the 1970 Gran Coupe (see cars for sale) but I don't know how to post pics. I see some are posted as attatchments and some are direct pictures. Could I get some advice here?
Thanks,
Mark

the fire wall should be fine . there is a strap to support the extra extension to support th eclutch pedal & I recommend getting or making that support ,
Brewers or Passion do good work with 4 spds
the 70 Cuda pedals will bolt in with the above mentioned bracket
the frame pivot lines up with the Oval hole in the inner fender
When you make a post click on additional options just to the bottom left of the window you type in , you can add pix there
