This is a pic of my 71 gran coupe converted to a cuda. I don't care for the granny coupe look myself so I changed it just a little. It was a 318 automatic and is now a 340 pistol grip 4-speed car. The car needed a total resto so I decided to spend the money to make it the way that I wanted it. I don't regret changing it at all. If I had restored it to original, I would never drive it.
The pic of the gran coupe in the previous post has the wrong spoiler for a '71 car. It has the 70 style go-wing and should have the 71 style gull wing. As for value, I wouldn't take 45k for mine. They're just too hard to find.
If I bought that car, the first thing I would do is change the spoiler and have the fenders punched for the gills. I would then remove the gc trunk lock escuchion. Looks like it would make a nice car with a few changes.

As far as value, IMO that car is a 30-35K car at best. It a nice car, but being a BP instead of a BS car knocks the $$ down on it.

I agree with hemi71 on this.  And the fact that it does not have the orginal motor, I'm thinking the value is closer to 30K then 35K.

P6Y3:  "P" means premium grade interior- probably the best interior as it is the "luxury" Gran Coupe.
          "6" means vinyl bucket seats.
"Y3" means light gold trim color.

The build date is a 3 digit date. Mine appears on the second line from the bottom, 4th entry, right before my six digit vehicle order number (this is the OTHER six digit number, not the VIN sequence number).
Mine is 12/12/1969 build and my code is C12.

Sorry, I forgot to say: The code for the month of the year (first digit) is 1 through 9 for Jan-Sept; then A,B and C for Oct, Nov, Dec.

Thanks guys! It shows to be an Oct 19th 1970 car. My son's birthday is October 19th. He is now wanting to lay claim to the car.

Well I did it. I am now the owner of the 71. Hotrod 98, how would one go about "punching" the fenders? Where would I go to have something like that done. Are they set at a certain size and angle? I'd really like to get this done. Forgive the dumb questions but I am new to the Mopar scene. Sal

Yep, the car is home. It was a local trade so we met at the bank and exchanged titles and cars, plus he gave me some cash. It seems like a nice enough car, but I am having a hard time letting go of my Corvette. I hope I didn't make a mistake. I see many of you have Corvettes, so I assume that's okay to admit. My thoughts were that by doing a local trade, I might have a chance at getting the car back. The guy has an incredible car collection that must me worth a few million. He never shows them and drives them only occassionally. Therefore I won't be at a carshow staring at my old car and hating myself. The Corvette was a 1962 model with some very rare options and an actual and documented 37,900 original miles. It was a completely original numbers matching car with a no hit body. Picture is attached below. Please tell me I didn't mess up. The new car seems to be in pretty good shape, 46000 "box a" (actual) miles. It's a true 383 car with some really nice factory options, and of course some added ones. It has a posi traction rear end, but it currently has highway gears. I plan to drop in a 3.55-3.70 ratio to wake it up a bit. I ordered personalized plates for it yesterday "FSTCUDA", they wouldn't let me have "BYE COP". I plan to "stamp" the fenders, if I can figure out where or how to do that. I plan to add the hood pins and driving lights if I can find them. I am also not quite happy with the appearance of the front grill, it's all yellow and I believe it should be all or part grey. I am still trying to figure that out.

Well, he claims he has 45000 into it. I believe that is what he paid for it. The car had been restored as a Cuda at that point. I am not looking to modify it any further than what it already is. The vin and number are right on the rest of the car; tranny, rear end etc. The tranny is the HD 727 tranny. Added mods were the go wing, billboards, blacked out rear, etc. I plan to keep the car as is and drive it. Thanks for clarifying the shaker hood. I had it right in my mind but had seen another car with the same hood advertised as a shaker. The car has absolutely no rust and is a documented 58,000 mile car. The title shows 58,000 "box a" (original) miles, the original title is also included as well as the current one and broadcast sheet.

Documented mileage?  It has a 72-74 rallye cluster in it now.

As long as you got at least 25k difference, I would say that you did okay.
I have no idea what those seats are out of. They're definitely not 71's. The 71's were available with the pillow look standard seat covers or the leather covers like mine. They kind of look like 70 standard seat covers. The grille should have the insert areas painted argent. Look at the pic of my red 71 in my previous post. When you have the fenders punched, you will have to repaint the fenders of course. I meant to ask Gene Gregory if he was punching fenders. He came by the shop today to pick up some hoods for the shaker conversions.
I think that you will have a lot of fun making the changes and just driving the car. I've owned several old vettes and they never got half of the attention that my mopars do. Enjoy.
Oh yeah...more pics.

Well apparently one of the previous owners decided to do the dress up and didn't quite know what he was doing.  A few of the pieces are wrong year, obviously the wing. I don't plan to pass it off as a real Cuda or compete at the Mopar Nationals with it. But, I do plan on driving and enjoying it. Needless to say, I wish I had been a little more educated in Mopar before making the deal. But financially, I didn't get hurt. Thank God! As for mileage, I'm going off of the previous title work.

If you want to know what the seats are, you might try to go to the Year One on-line catalog and check seat covers. It's amazing the variety that there were from model to model and year to year. I had Firebird seats in my 70, if you can believe that.
