five speed trannys
« on: November 10, 2005 - 11:35:59 AM »
Hello,  I have never owned a mopar with a manual transmission, only torqueflights.  I was wondering with the tremec 5 speed conversions that they are offering,  does the NP2500 or AX-15 5 speed transmission have any worthiness as far as a performance application if used in moderation.  I have a 1971 340 Challenger with a 727 and toyed with the idea of a manual.  Do either of thes trannys mate to the "A" engine or are they Magnum trannys?  Lastly,  I know of one hooked to a mid to late 80's slant 6 out of a full sized Dodge van that I can get free,  but I was'nt sure if the slant six bellhousing was compatible with an "A" engine.  Thanks for any info you can give.

the slant 6 bel is different from both the small block & BIG BLOCK ,the 833 OD from later truck applications is basically a bolt in swap but is a 4 spd
the Keisler can be a long wait , they will tell you they have it ready to go & bill you immediatly but you may see it in 4-6 months

Anyone know anything about these? From what I'm reading, they look like about the best thing on the market right now, too bad they are so expensive, maybe sometime down the road I can afford one. That would be sweet to go with 4:10 gears on the low end and have the capacity to run like 3:20's on top end  too!

I'll say Glen, I might look into one of those GV units later on down the road once I'm use to Lucy.
I'll run some 4:56's out back and still have 3:55 type gears at highway speeds!!

They sound like prostock gear shifts to when split, VERY cool.
